Is WhatsApp Down?

Find out whether WhatsApp is down for everyone or just for you. The check starts automatically when the page loads.

The address you enter is only used for the check and is not stored.

WhatsApp not working? Try this

We request web.whatsapp.com from our own server, outside your network. If it shows UP, WhatsApp itself is working and the problem is local: restart or update the app, switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data, turn off your VPN or ad blocker, clear the browser cache, or change DNS to 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8. If it shows DOWN or a 5xx error, WhatsApp is having an outage and the only fix is to wait.

Is It Down?

How to use

  1. 1Enter the website address (e.g. example.com).
  2. 2Press “Check”; our server requests the page from the internet, not from your network.
  3. 3Read the UP/DOWN verdict, status code, response time and final URL.
  4. 4If it is up for us but not for you, follow the fixes below.

Down for everyone or just me?

The check runs from our server, independent of your Wi-Fi, ISP, DNS cache and browser extensions. If we get a 2xx or 3xx response, the site is up and the problem is on your side: flush your DNS (ipconfig /flushdns on Windows, sudo dscacheutil -flushcache on macOS), try another browser or mobile data, disable your VPN or ad blocker, or switch DNS to 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8. If we can’t reach it either, the outage is on the site’s end.

What the HTTP status codes mean

200 means the page loaded normally. 301/302/307/308 are redirects; we follow them and show the final URL. 403 Forbidden usually means a firewall or bot protection blocked the request — the site is often up for real browsers. 404 means the page doesn’t exist but the server is running. 500 is an application error, 502 Bad Gateway and 504 Gateway Timeout point to a broken or slow backend behind a proxy/CDN, and 503 typically means maintenance or overload. A timeout or “unreachable” result means no response at all: DNS failure, server offline or the connection blocked.

What to do if your own site is down

Check in this order: is the domain expired (run a Whois lookup)? Do the DNS records still point to your host (DNS lookup)? Has the SSL certificate expired (SSL checker)? Then look at your host’s status page and server error logs. A 5xx after a deploy or plugin update usually means the change broke the app — roll it back first, debug second.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the site work for you but not for me?

Usually a local issue: stale DNS cache, ISP routing, a firewall, VPN, browser extension, or your IP being blocked by the site. Try another network (e.g. mobile data) and flush your DNS.

Why do I get 403 when the site opens fine in my browser?

Many sites use bot protection (Cloudflare, WAF rules) that blocks automated requests. A 403 here usually means the server is up but refused our check, not that the site is down.

What is a good response time?

Under 500 ms is fast, 500–1,000 ms is acceptable, and anything consistently above 2 seconds signals a slow server or overloaded backend. Use the website speed test for full page load metrics.

Does this tool monitor my site continuously?

No. It performs a single on-demand check each time you press the button. Run it again to recheck.
