What keyword density is
Keyword density is how often a word or phrase appears relative to the total word count: occurrences ÷ total words × 100. A phrase used 10 times in a 1,000-word article has 1% density. In URL mode we analyze the visible body text only, skipping scripts, styles, navigation and footer, so the numbers reflect the actual content.
Is there an ideal keyword density?
No. Google has said for years that there is no magic percentage, and modern ranking systems understand synonyms and topics rather than counting exact matches. Use density as a diagnostic: if your main keyword is at 4–5%+ the text probably reads as stuffed; if it never appears in the title, H1 or first paragraph, you may not be signaling the topic clearly.
Better uses for the phrase report
The 2- and 3-word phrase tables are the most useful part. Run them on top-ranking competitor pages to discover the sub-topics and terms they cover that you don’t; run them on your own draft to catch repetitive phrasing. If the top phrases don’t describe what the page is about, the page’s focus is probably off.
Frequently asked questions
What keyword density should I aim for?
There is no target. Write naturally; most well-ranking pages land somewhere around 0.5–2% for their main term simply by covering the topic, but forcing a number is counterproductive.
What are stop words?
Very common words like “the”, “and”, “of” and “to” that carry little meaning. They are excluded so the report shows meaningful terms.
Does keyword stuffing still hurt?
Yes. Google’s spam policies explicitly list keyword stuffing, and it makes text worse to read, which hurts engagement.
Which languages are supported?
Stop-word filtering is built in for English, Turkish, German, Spanish, Arabic and Russian. Counting works for any language.
