How to use
- 1Drag an audio file onto the page or click to choose one (MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG, FLAC…).
- 2Drag the two handles on the waveform, or type the seconds, to set the start and end.
- 3Check it with “Play selection” and add a fade in or fade out if you like.
- 4Choose MP3, WAV or M4R, click “Cut and save” and download the result.
Precise cuts on a waveform
The file is decoded with your browser’s Web Audio engine and drawn as a waveform, so silent gaps and choruses are easy to spot. You can type start and end times to 0.01 s. Fade in and fade out stop the clip from starting or ending abruptly. Formats your browser can’t open itself are decoded automatically with ffmpeg.wasm.
MP3, WAV and M4R
MP3 plays everywhere; 192 kbps is fine for most uses. WAV is uncompressed and best if you want to keep editing without further loss. M4R is the AAC format used for iPhone ringtones. Output is saved at 44.1 kHz; for files with more than two channels, the first two are used.
Making ringtones for iPhone and Android
On iOS 26 and later, open an audio file of 30 seconds or less in the Files app and tap Share › “Use as Ringtone”; longer files are rejected. On older iOS versions you need to sync an M4R file (40 seconds max) from a computer with Finder or iTunes. On Android, copy the MP3 to your phone and pick it under Settings › Sound. Only cut audio you have the right to use.
Frequently asked questions
Is my audio file uploaded?
No. Cutting and encoding happen entirely in your browser; the file never leaves your device.
How long can an iPhone ringtone be?
Up to 30 seconds when added from the Files app on iOS 26 or later; M4R ringtones added the older way (Finder/iTunes) can be up to 40 seconds.
Does cutting an MP3 reduce quality?
Saving as MP3 re-encodes the audio; at 192–320 kbps the difference is inaudible. Choose WAV for no loss at all.
Can I cut the audio from a video?
Extract the soundtrack first with our MP4 to MP3 converter, then cut the MP3 here.
Which formats are supported?
MP3, WAV, M4A/AAC, OGG, OPUS and FLAC; other common formats your browser can’t open are decoded with ffmpeg.wasm. Copy-protected (DRM) files can’t be opened.
