Open Graph Preview & Checker

See exactly how your link will look when shared on Facebook, X, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Slack and Telegram — before you post it.

The address you enter is only used for the check and is not stored.

How to use

  1. 1Enter the URL you want to share.
  2. 2We read its Open Graph (og:) and Twitter Card tags.
  3. 3Review the previews for each platform side by side.
  4. 4Fix any warnings, such as a missing or wrongly sized og:image.

What Open Graph tags do

When someone shares a link, the platform reads the page’s Open Graph tags to build the preview card: og:title, og:description, og:image, og:url and og:type, plus og:site_name. X (Twitter) uses its own twitter:card, twitter:title and twitter:image tags but falls back to Open Graph. Without them, platforms guess — often pulling the wrong image or no image at all, which kills click-through.

The right og:image size

Use 1200 × 630 pixels (1.91:1 ratio) — it works for Facebook, LinkedIn, X’s summary_large_image card and messaging apps. Keep the file under 5 MB (ideally under 300 KB so WhatsApp shows it reliably), use JPG or PNG, and keep text and logos within the central area since some apps crop to a square. Always use an absolute https:// URL for og:image.

Preview still shows the old image?

Platforms cache previews for days or weeks. After changing your tags, re-scrape the URL with Facebook’s Sharing Debugger or LinkedIn’s Post Inspector. X refreshes its cache roughly a week later; adding a query string like ?v=2 to the URL you share forces a fresh fetch on most platforms.

Frequently asked questions

Do Open Graph tags help SEO?

Not directly as a ranking factor, but attractive previews get more clicks and shares, which brings traffic and links.

Why is no image shown on WhatsApp?

Common causes: og:image missing or relative, the image too large, served over http, or blocked from bots. Use an absolute https URL to a small JPG.

Do I need Twitter Card tags if I have Open Graph?

X falls back to og:title, og:description and og:image, but you still need twitter:card set to summary_large_image to get the large image layout.

Are these previews pixel-perfect?

They closely mimic each platform’s layout, but platforms change their designs and truncation rules, so small differences are possible.
